Strategic Planning Task Forces & Committees

Forward Sheridan, Inc., with the participation of citizens, organizations and business leaders, using information from previous studies, worked through the fall of 2006 to assess strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) to economic development in Sheridan County.

From February to June 2007, a committed group of approximately 25 participants in these SWOT assessments proceeded forward in weekly focus meetings. With the help of key community members in each of the itemized strengths and weaknesses, they completed the Strategic Plan for Economic Development in Sheridan County  (a copy of which can also be downloaded by clicking on the "Strategic Plan" button above).  The plan aligns economic development with community visions and values and provides a road map for future economic development endeavors. The strategic plan sets out economic development priorities into achievable goals and measurable strategic actions and will serve as Forward Sheridan's Action Plan for the next five years.

Committed businesses and citizens, through their businesses, industry clusters and other organizations, are continuing to work to enhance those areas in our community considered to be strengths.  These strengths will help identify "who we are as a community."

As a result of the strategic planning process, citizens and businesses have come together in a number of "Task Forces" to address the challenges identified in the Strategic Plan. Additional committees and task forces will be created as we move forward and hone in on specific strategies to be accomplished.

The purpose of this section of the website is to help the task force members and interested community members stay aprised of progress toward our stated goals.  Here you will find:

  • a calendar of upcoming meetings and events
  • task force action plans and time lines
  • agendas
  • meeting notes
  • documents and information regarding each of the task forces
They are available to task force members, as well as interested community members and visitors to our site, and we encourage community members who wish to become  involved in the process to contact us.
